10:00am - 4:00pm Save The Bay Exploration Center Aquarium 175 Memorial Blvd., Easton's Beach Rotunda. The Save The Bay Exploration Center is an interactive marine science-learning center that offers hands-on lessons and activities for families and children interested in learning more about Narragansett Bay and its inhabitants. Live exhibits include a 14 ft. touch tank, microscope station, arts and crafts area and beach walks. Get up close and personal with over 350 critters found in Narragansett Bay waters. 10:30am - Newport's Buried History: Slavery and Freedom Tour On a stroll through remarkable colonial neighborhoods, hear inspirational stories about Newport's people of color. Inside the c.1697 Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, see what investigations in the attic have revealed about the lives of enslaved Newporters. Then tour a burying ground featuring beautiful and unusual gravestones made in memory of African men, women and children in the 1700's. 11am - Teddy Bear Story time - "Story & Song Celebration" Sponsored by the Mainstay 151 Admiral Kalbfus Rd. 11-4pm- Guided Tours of Belcourt Castle 657 Bellevue Ave. Unique among the mansions of Newport, "Belcourt," a Louis XIII style hunting lodge, was designed by Richard Morris Hunt, "the Dean of American architects." The 60-room summer cottage cost $3 million in 1894 , a figure of approximately $75 million in 2007. 300 skilled European craftsmen were employed in Belcourt's creation between 1891 & 1894.
